SoPure Partners with NutriScent for Stevia Symposium

In recent weeks, the SoPure and Nascent Health Sciences team have been traveling to the Far East for a series of educational workshops to raise the marketplace awareness around next-generation stevia applications. The roadshow took us to markets like Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand where we met with some of the best minds in R&D and product development to provide hands-on education and to demonstrate how natural plant-based stevia can help address their product formulation needs.

Of these workshops, our “Natural Sweet Taste” Symposium in Thailand was especially successful and the result of an excellent partnership with NutriScent, a premier stevia distribution partner for SoPure. The symposium included presentations by Alex Woo, PhD, our Chief Innovation Officer, along with Michael Chen, Vice President and Hank Wang, Technical Product and Applications Manager from our Nascent Health Sciences team.

Dr. Woo’s presentation examined the differences between all-natural plant-based stevia and its artificial counterparts, as well as stacking strategies and sweetness modulation to accommodate specific products. Hank presented on the topic of stevia formulation including the benefits and challenges of using stevia and practical formulation guidelines, while Michael spoke to the audience about the story of the SoPure brand and what makes our stevia supply different. With the symposium’s attendees being overwhelmingly R&D, it is clear that stevia is top-of-mind for food & beverage product development professionals.

As part of the day’s workshop and demonstrations the SoPure and NutriScent teams also provided product samples to attendees that showcased the application of SoPure stevia, including a Pandan beverage, ketchup, chocolate chip cookie, orange juice and soy milk.

With a 91% approval rating from attendees of the workshop, and 92% of them expressing an interest in applying stevia for future product development, the “Natural Sweet Taste” Symposium was undoubtedly a success. It’s important to note though that none of this would have been possible without the tremendous partnership of NutriScent. We’d like to extend our special gratitude to our host and partner as we could not have asked for more from a collaboration. Thailand was certainly a highlight from our roadshow in Asia, but we look forward to carrying that momentum into other markets and other partners around the globe.
